We study the design and function of green infrastructure at community and regional scales. We design and examine landscape solutions that regenerate urban ecosystems and people’s connection to landscape processes. We seek to generate work valuable for design professionals, land planners and managers, and others involved in shaping the outdoor environment.

To understand the cultural, biological, and physical aspects for integrating the built and natural environments, we employ a multidisciplinary approach including:

  • landscape architecture
  • landscape ecology
  • horticulture
  • natural resources planning
  • urban design
  • civil engineering

Our investigations apply mixed-methods including:

  • photo-survey/ Landscape Preference Study strategies
  • alternative scenarios modeling
  • GIS mapping and modeling
  • descriptive strategies- field observation and sketching, interviews, and case study
